Year: 2019 – 2020
Client: Planning Authority
Services: Rebranding, Product Design
The year 2019 saw the re-branding of the prestigious Malta Architectural and Spatial Planning (MASP) Awards, held annually by Malta’s Planning Authority. The BloomCreative team was approached to lead this project, and tasked to not only develop a new brand for the awards but also to re-invent the award trophies in a distinct and unprecedented way. Together with local 3D artist Kane Cali, we brought to life a concept heavily inspired by the angular shapes and shadows of Valletta’s bastions.
Cali’s role in this project was instrumental; following our creative brief, he developed a custom material for the award trophies, one that would emulate the colour and texture of Valletta’s bastions. This was also a nod to Maltese craftsmanship and traditional techniques. The shape of the trophies (once again inspired by the powerful, timeless forms of the bastions) was then custom-made and manifested in physical form thanks to 3D technology.
For the branding of the MASP Awards, our aim from the onset was to carefully select a company which had the expertise, experience and cutting edge to develop a brand which could gel creativity and elegance with architecture and design. We got it right! But all credit must go to BloomCreative for accompanying us along the journey in such a professional manner. They managed to adapt their concepts and design philosophy with our aspirations for the brand. We were honoured to have worked with them. They gave us a ‘product’ that makes us proud.
